- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪If competence is the ability to do something successfully or efficiently then Mountain Dental (MD) has great competence in making money but little competence in helping people. Though MD serves the people of Oak Ridge and many of these people work for the plants, MD is either unaware, or worse, lie about what insurance will cover. It is critical for MD to have better competence in providing more accurate insurance coverage estimates. I personally have a bill that is nearly 300% the original estimate, rather shocking and disruptive. When I asked MD about the discrepancy, I was told that I should have asked for a verification of coverage. This was never offered during my visit though.
